Roy Nelson Murphy, 82, of Front Royal, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Born on October 11, 1943, in Warren County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Marguerite Willey Murphy and Lee Wilson Murphy.
Roy was a lifelong Warren County resident, a graduate of Warren County High School and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #829.
He enjoyed the outdoors and doing small engine repair. He was always lending a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed.
Roy is survived by his loving companion Ramona Stickley, son Darryl Murphy (Patty), stepdaughter Jennifer Brinklow (Johnny); two sisters Beatrice Oakes and Charlotte Murphy; two sisters-in-law, Nadene Murphy and Diane Murphy all of Front Royal and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne “Bonnie” Judd and second wife Linda “Lynn” Murphy; sister, Betty Hoynoski and brothers, Ralph Murphy, William Murphy, Ray Murphy and Wayne Murphy; half-sister, Karen Murphy; step-grandson Tristen Brinklow.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, 1 PM at the funeral home. His final resting place will be at Panorama Memorial Gardens at a later time.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Blue Ridge Hospice.

We are so sad that we didn’t get up to see Roy. We were to be in Front Royal on the 9th to see Roy and Charlotte. He and Betty and I were best childhood friends. Our heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.
