Virginia Ann Tharp

Virginia Ann Tharp, 63, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at her home after a long courageous battle of cancer.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Roy Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal.

Ann was born November 21, 1962 in Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of the late Robert Beattie and Harma Rita Morris Edmonds.

She retired after many years from Jefferson Utilities.

Ann cherished time spent with her family and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome, comfortable and cared for. Her warm hospitality, radiant smile, and joyful laughter will be lovingly remembered forever.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 43 years, Hillard “Butch” Tharp; one son, Robert B. Tharp of Front Royal; one daughter, Catherine Ann Miller and husband J.J. of Cross Junction; one brother, Robert Morris Edmonds of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren, Jason, Jeremiah, Jackson, Nevaeh, Jesse, Chassidy, Mary Ann, Clayton and Arlen; and two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Raleigh.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason, Jeremiah, Jackson, Jesse, and Clayton, as well as family friend, Logan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14 from 6-8 p.m.at the funeral home.

      Ann was one of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever met. She never changed through all the years I’ve known her. she will be greatly missed. Sending prayers for her Family.

    Ann always had a smile on her face, she always had something fun and nice to say. She will be missed. I know Ann was welcomed in to the arms of loved ones that graduated before and was just waiting to give he wa warm welcome home.
