Prayers to the family , so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful teacher. I had her for 8th grade English 1977-1978. She helped me turn my life around . I was so grateful to her . I did get to go visit her at school about 15 or so years ago. I will always remember her and will miss her.

Marilyn was a lifelong friend from early Sunday School days, through Elem School and High School. She enjoyed a good laugh always. My deepest sympathies to her family.

What a super sweet , nice lady ! She was my neighbor for a few years & although I did not know her a long time she was one of the kindest, thoughtful, sweetest ladies in the world! The world is better with people just like her in it ! A true loss for society! Rest in peace, fly with Angels 👼

I have known Marilyn Corker for years. She was born and raised in Beaverdam, VA and we attended church together at Zion Christian Church. Marilyn came to Virginia Commonwealth University her first year of college and I gave her a job in our “Ask It” booth on campus at which time she gave anyone coming on campus directions to certain offices, buildings, etc. She did an excellent job and we loved her. She was an inspiration to be around. She was happy and everyone enjoyed being in her presence. Rest in peace my dear friend. We will all miss you.

Marilyn was my English teacher in Junior High (83/84) -who made such a lasting and wonderful impression on me❤️. Later on, after “junior high”, she became a cherished friend. 🌸

I’m so THANKFUL for her; her spirit and passion in teaching, her HUMOR, her kindness, her always being her own person, (and teaching/encouraging us to do the same), her compassion, her thoughtfulness, her smile…. her laugh— (it always felt SO good to make her laugh!)
The list goes on…🌞 and on…And on.

Fly high in paradise! You sure did make a difference in this world!⭐️❤️💫💗
❤️Prayers of peace and so much love to her, her family, and friends❤️

A divine hand brought us back together one last time. No words were needed. An effortless
connection that was and always will be. We both know how much we meant to one another. My teacher of three years, my neighbor, my friend, my guide, my champion, my compass. I only wish we had a bit more time. I knew her through a child’s eyes. I wish I had known her more as a woman. Profound love and respect for Marilyn Jean Corker. I’m truly sad to not be there for the service. Will light a candle in her honor. I can hear her wit and her laugh, they live forever in the fabric of who I am. She was a brilliant teacher.

Ms. Corker, a great teacher and friend. We lost touch over the years but I always remembered her humor and wisdom. I remember when I was in 7th or 8th grade we had an intense discussion about personal viewpoints where we strongly disagreed. When I grew up I realized she was 100% correct and I was wrong. Like Jenny, I too wish I had spoken to her more often as a woman and not a child. She will be missed! My thoughts are with her family and friends.
