Nancy Lee (Swack) Conway of Front Royal, Virginia, formerly of Penfield, Pennsylvania went peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday August 25, 2017. Born July 7, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Ella Mae (Williams) Swack. Nancy was married to Marlin Kline Conway for sixty-two years. He preceded her in death in January 2017.
Mrs. Conway is survived by her sister Peggy (Sam) Standridge of California and her Brother Joseph J. (Phyllis) Swack of Virginia. Another sister, Judy, passed at a very early age.
Nancy was the mother of six children, five sons and one daughter: Michael (Mary) of West Virginia; Joni (Stephen) Hudak of Virginia; William (Tracey) of Maryland; Christopher (Sue) of Pennsylvania; Joel of Pennsylvania. Another son, Marlin (Marty) passed in 2009. She also leaves behind Laura Fossler of Pennsylvania, the daughter of her best friend Gloria Sholes.
She had fourteen grandchildren: Heather, Jeremy, Brandon, Kari, Josh, Shannon, Macie, Matthew, Eric, Sara, Eric, Ed, Samantha, and Chase. Nancy also had twenty great-grandchildren: Bayleigh, Larkyn, Ethan, Connor, Jaxon, Asher, Fielding, Weston, Jake, Norah, Stef, Hannah, Tommy, Christopher, Cory, Riley, Madisyn, Ashlyn, Leiland, and Baby Peace.
Nancy also leaves behind nieces: Traci, Staci, LaTesha, Amy, and Ashley Michelle.
Nancy’s children were her life. She gave all she had to meet each and every individual need. She was a giver, never a taker. She loved unconditionally her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and, even, her son-in-law. Nancy’s wisdom enhanced everyone she touched. She never judged. She listened before she spoke. She smiled before she scolded. She loved to sit with each grandchild and great grandchild and listen to their stories and tell her own. She talked of the old days and of the future of every child. Nancy never met a stranger and would seek opportunities to tell of her lineage. She loved watching her Pittsburgh Pirates and would read a book a day.
Nancy and her best friend, Gloria, had a pact that the first one to pass would save a cloud in heaven for the other so they could eat cream cheese and bagels when reunited.
Mom, you are dearly missed and we will lean on your legacy and strength till we meet again. We love you so much.
P.S. Mum may or may not have invented the question mark. She was secretly a Washington Nationals fan.
